facebook will recommend pages and friends on your profile. it uses data from your page and friends pages to systematically determine what you might be interested in.
here are a few of facebook's recommendations on my personal page.

here, facebook assumes that because i have black friends, that i must also be black...........and proud
finally though, facebook recommends something worth a damn:
