fun at the freeborn county fair
my wife and i went down to albert lea, mn for the freeborn county fair. they had some really good shows coming to the grandstands and the shows weren't any extra. we were only charged the $9 admission to the fair and the shows were included. we went friday night to see the legendary george jones.
george is 78 years old and moves around and talks like a 78 year old man. he has trouble keeping up with his faster songs and he really can't belt them out anymore, but he can still sing. it was great to see a legend. and for 9 bucks, you can't beat it.
it was packed on friday. we got to the fair at about 6pm and there was a huge line to get into the grandstands. blue hair as far as the eye could see. i think my wife and i might have been the youngest people there that weren't accompanying an old person. it was a great show though.
the next night, saturday, we went back to see hinder. we had our good friends' 17 year old daughter and her boyfriend with us.........i don't know why our friends think i am a positive role model, but whatever.............
9 bucks to see hinder is a great price. they are fun and put on a good show.
when we got there, we noticed that the crowd was about the same size as it was for george and that was expected. what was not expected was the number of old people there. there were tons of old people in the grandstands for hinder.

some were wearing their george jones shirt that they had bought the night before.
the show was loud and relatively heavy and these old people were sitting there like champs. then, slowly, couple by couple the old people started to leave. it was rather funny to watch as they decided that they had enough of the loud music and made their way down the stairs.
i imagine that the freeborn county fair board will get lots of complaints from these people. the only explanation that i can come up with is that the entire week the fair had country acts that the old people enjoyed so when they saw hinder, even though they didn't recognize the name, they assumed that they would enjoy the show.
